WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER

THE VERY LATEST EQUIPMENT
IN EYE EXAMINATION

Following the purchase of our state of the art Zeiss OCT scanner, we are now able to obtain 3D scans of the back of your eyes, allowing us to study your retinas with incredible detail. Also, by keeping records of these images, we can compare them the next time you visit us which is extremely useful to detect subtle changes from one time to next.

WHAT IS OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a 3D scan that enables a more in-depth examination of the retina – the light sensitive part of the eye- than previously possible. The test is quick and non-invasive.

During the scan you are simply required to sit in one position and look at a target placed in front of you. The scan will end with a camera flash. The OCT scan is a very quick process and should take no longer than a few minutes.

OCT Scan and colour retinal photography are available with private and NHS.

01

Benefits of having an OCT scan

OCT examination enables us to visualise the different retinal layers and pinpoint the exact location of any abnormality with great accuracy.

Our OCT scanner also incorporates a detailed retinal camera. The combined information obtained from colour photograph and 3D scan gives us vastly improved capability to diagnose abnormalities much earlier than previously possible.

02

Eye conditions detected with an OCT scan

OCT is very useful for early detection and monitoring of a range of eye conditions including Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration. It is believed that, with OCT imaging, glaucoma could be diagnosed up to five years earlier than previously possible. Early detection often leads to better outcome.
